Anna Silk was the first child of Peter Silk (an academic) and Ilkay Silk (a playwright, actor director, producer, and teacher in St. Thomas University). Anna Silk's dad is from Britain and her mother, an Turkish Cypriot English expat. She remembers watching her mother perform in play rehearsals. At the beginning of her career Anna appeared in a number of television commercials. In November 1999, Anna made the move to Toronto for the purpose of advancing her acting career. She ended up shifting to Los Angeles, California, in the following decade. Seth Cooperman, whom she was introduced to at an Los Angeles actors' workshop earlier in 2007, was her partner in 2009. The couple was married in a civil ceremony that ended in December. They renew their vows during an Jewish wedding ceremony held in Fredericton in April 2011, in the wake of Anna's conversion into Judaism. Bo's same-sex relationship and Lauren (played by Zoie Palmer) was highlighted on CNN's list of the top Favorite Television Couples as well as named the most popular Television Couple in 2013 by E! Entertainment Television. The success of the show resulted in Anna building a large audience on social networks.
